Problem or issue with a glider? Contact the ship captain - phone or email them at once, PLUS leave a note in the onboard ship log. Don't rely on notes only, be sure to notify the ship captain!

 

Silverado's Gliders

Silverado owns 3 two place gliders

Silverado's gliders are fairly modern fiberglass ships. All gliders have radios, oxygen systems and parachutes for each seat.

The fleet consists 3 dual place gliders; two Grob 103s and a DG505.

We want you to fly and take your friends or other club members flying. This is the best way to share the experience and to allow senior members to help new members increase their knowledge.

Our glider locations change depending on the time of year. Truckee is the club's favorite flying location.

The club also has two small trailers that members can use to sleep in while flying at Truckee. These can also be scheduled via our online scheduling system.

Our club has several CFIG members that can provide glider check rides and biannual reviews using a club glider - another savings!

 

OUR GLIDERS

The Grob 103 is a popular training glider and ride ship. They have roomy cockpits and can accommodate large and tall pilots. The performance is approximately 35 to 1 glide ratio. Silverado has CC [Charlie Charlie] and 7S [Seven Sierra]. CC winters at Minden Soaring. Both gliders will be located at Truckee during the summer soaring season.

The DG505 is a high performance dual place glider, yet has very predictable handling. 1PS [One Papa Sierra] has changeable tips and can be flown in a 18 meter or 20 meter wing configuration. With the 20 meter wings 1PS has a glide ratio of over 44 to 1. This is a serious cross country glider. 1 PS winters at Williams Soaring Center and is at Truckee during the summer.

Silverado's Online Scheduling

Summer is coming - are you current? TIme to get checked out and practice. We have gliders at Williams Soaring and Minden. Soar Truckee opens weekends, May 12th, and 7 days a week starting May 24, 2008.

Silverado uses the online scheduling provider www.FlightSchedulePro.com

Please follow the following instructions to register on our new site;

  1. Go to www.FlightSchedulePro.com
  2. Click on the blue Register link.
  3. Under the "Register for the organization you fly with" heading click on Flight Schedule Pro v3.0
  4. Scroll down and click on Silverado Soaring, Inc. then click on the green "go" link.
  5. Fill in your information.
  6. The system administrator will need to activate your account - usually 24 - 48 hours.
